Geraldine Crisci holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and is a Registered Pyschotherapist with the CRPO. She has over 30 years of experience as a mental health professional specializing in the field of trauma.. In her private practice, she provides assessment and treatment for children, youth, and their families. She has also worked extensively with residential treatment programs and supports families in the adoption and reunification process. Geraldine’s expertise focuses on understanding the impact of trauma on behaviour and developing effective clinical programs that provide corrective and therapeutic interventions.
In addition to her clinical work, Geraldine is a highly regarded trainer and consultant. She developed and teaches the 6-day Trauma Assessment and Treatment Program for Safeguards, which has trained more than 6,000 professionals over the past 18 years. She has created widely used protocols for the assessment and treatment of trauma, sexualized behaviour problems, sibling sexual abuse, and family reunification. Geraldine provides consultation, clinical supervision, program reviews, and ongoing training packages to agencies in child protection, mental health, healthcare, law enforcement, and other helping fields.
She has provided support to agencies and families in successful adoption of children from the Protection system and has worked extensively with residential treatment programs for children and youth for the past 20 years.
Publications
Geraldine is a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC). She co-authored Paper Dolls and Paper Airplanes: Therapeutic Exercises for Sexually Traumatized Children, which is currently in its 10th year of printing.
