FAQ’s

Q: Do I Need a Doctor's Referral for Therapy?

A: No. A client does not need to be referred by a doctor in order to receive therapy. However, a physician’s referral may be required by your insurance plan in order to be reimbursed. Please check with your insurance provider.

Q: Does Insurance Cover Pyschological Services?

A: Yes, our therapists are registered professionals and may be covered under many insurance plans. Because policies vary, we recommend confirming your coverage details in advance of your first appointment directly with your provider, including annual limits and reimbursement per session. If you encounter issues with coverage, please contact our office—we can often help clarify information for your insurance company.

Clients pay for their sessions at the time of the session, and then submit the receipt to their insurance company for reimbursement.

We do not provide refunds for services rendered that are subsequently denied coverage by an insurer. The client has full responsibility to ensure that coverage for services is in place by communicating directly with the insurer.

Q: What Are the Rates for Therapy Sessions?

A: Rates vary among therapists as well as for different services we provide. For specific rates, please call our office.

Q: Are My Therapy Sessions Confidential?

A: Therapy sessions are confidential with a few exceptions—for example, if a child is at risk of harm, if there is an immediate threat to someone’s safety, or if disclosure is required by a court order.

We comply with several Acts that protect your personal information, including PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act), PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act), and the Quality of Care Information Protection Act. Details about how these laws apply to your therapy are outlined in our Intake Form. Our Intake Coordinator will also provide further information and answer any questions you may have about the security of your information.

Before starting therapy, you will receive a comprehensive overview of our confidentiality policy to review and sign.

Q. How Do I Set Up My First Session?

A: To contact us please fill in the form on this page or call us at (289) 210-7317. Our intake coordinator will be happy to answer any questions and set up your first appointment with a therapist on our team.

Q. What Can I Expect During My First Therapy Session?

A. In the first session, your therapist will review confidentiality and session guidelines, and you’ll complete a service agreement together. This initial meeting is also a time to share your concerns and goals. While solutions may not appear right away, they often begin to emerge as therapy progresses.

Q. Do You Offer Virtual Therapy Sessions?

A. Yes, we offer secure video sessions through an online platform that meets health confidentiality standards. To join, simply click the link in your confirmation email and enable your microphone and camera. For Apple users, Chrome generally works better than Safari.

If there are any video connectivity issues, your therapist will call you, and the session will continue by phone.

Q. How Do I Arrange Therapy for My Child?

A. Please call our office to discuss the specific requirements and consent needed for therapy with minors.
